Healthcare Content Streaming Service, Able Channel, Launches Able Impact Fund
March 27, 2024March 27, 2024 New York, NY – Able Channel proudly announces the launch of the Able Impact Fund, using charitable giving to produce critically needed healthcare programming. The Emmy Award® Nominated Streaming Service invites donors to underwrite programming dedicated to enhancing health literacy through serial storytelling.
Brian McCourt, CEO of Able, highlighted the urgent need for such initiatives: “1 in 4 Americans are caregivers, 1 in 36 births in the US have autism, 1 in 6 women over 65 will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, 1 in 4 will get cancer, 1 in 3 Americans will be disabled before retirement. The need for credible healthcare content has never been more evident.”
As consumption trends shift from print media to social media and streaming services, Able recognizes the power of video storytelling in educating and informing audiences about prevalent diseases, patient and caregiver journeys, and medical innovations. McCourt emphasized Able’s mission to bridge the knowledge gap: “Often we don’t consider our health until we receive a diagnosis and then it’s ‘what now?’ Able looks to help educate and inform and connect viewers to both health knowledge and resources.”
Tax-deductible donations will directly support the creation of content aimed at improving healthcare knowledge and outcomes. McCourt stressed the impact of health literacy on individuals and communities: “Social determinants of health start with education and access to credible healthcare content. Able is working to accelerate the production, distribution, and access to healthcare content for those who need it most.”
Citing the CDC, McCourt emphasized the far-reaching implications of low health literacy, including increased hospitalizations, decreased preventive care utilization, and higher healthcare costs. He underscored the role of health literacy in empowering individuals and communities to take control of their health. “We all have a loved one, friend or family member who is living with a health-related condition. In fact, 133 million Americans are living with a chronic health condition or disability. Therefore, the need to produce credible programs to help inform people about their health has never been more urgent. Programming can be a great way to make a major difference; just look at how fast “content” influences our world; it’s time to spread credible content, hope and inspiration to a world in need. We need your donations to help to us make that happen.”
