December 16, 2025
NEW YORK, NY — December 16, 2025 — The Able Channel, an Emmy Award–winning healthcare streaming service, today announced the appointment of Robert Friedman to its Board of Directors. Friedman, a 30-year entertainment veteran, is the CEO of Bungalow Media + Entertainment, one of the leading independent production companies in the United States, with a long track record of developing and producing premium nonfiction, scripted, and unscripted content for major networks and streaming platforms. He has held an array of senior executive positions including President of AOL, Interactive Marketing, TV & Ad Sales; Co-Chairman of New Line Cinema in charge of worldwide Theatrical Marketing and Licensing and President of New Line Television, which he launched for the company. Friedman was an original member of the start-up team at MTV Networks, where he spent over a decade.
Under his leadership, Bungalow has recently produced projects including 13 Days in Ferguson (CBS/Paramount+), Emmy Award- winning Little Richard: I Am Everything (CNN Films/Max), Vegas: The Story of Sin City (CNN), Cyber Sleuths: The Idaho Murders (Paramount+), the mini-series Surviving Jeffrey Epstein (Lifetime), and the Emmy Award-winning GIVE, among others. Current projects include the on-going AMC series It Couldn’t Happen Here with Hilarie Burton Morgan, Killer Confessions: Case Files of a Texas Ranger, a 10-part true crime series for ID/HBO Max, as well as documentaries If These Walls Could Rock, and We Met at Grossinger’s, among others. The company is widely recognized for its high-quality storytelling across documentary, lifestyle, reality, scripted, and branded content.
Friedman also serves on the boards of AccuWeather, Mount Sinai Health System, and Columbia Business School, among others.
“Robert brings a rare combination of creative excellence, operational leadership, and deep knowledge of the evolving streaming and content ecosystem,” said Brian McCourt CEO of The Able Channel. “His experience building a world-class production company and delivering trusted, premium content at scale will be invaluable as Able Channel continues to grow its healthcare distribution and advertising partnerships.”
“Able Channel is redefining how health information is delivered and consumed,” said Friedman. “The opportunity to apply best-in-class storytelling to healthcare education and patient engagement is both timely and meaningful. I’m excited to join the Board and support the company’s mission.”
Able Channel delivers medically credible, professionally produced healthcare programming for patients and consumers through leading streaming platforms and healthcare systems. By combining award-winning storytelling with a scalable distribution model, Able Channel helps improve health literacy, patient engagement, and outcomes—living its core belief that Media is Medicine.
Friedman will serve on the Board effective immediately and will support Able Channel’s strategic priorities, including content expansion, distribution partnerships, and long-term growth initiatives.
